Targeted, educational support that turns challenging behaviour into teachable moments and sustained engagement.
In classrooms, behaviour is communication. When students act out, they’re often signalling unmet physiological, social, emotional or learning needs. Using the neuroscience of empathy, connection and relationships, we help schools understand what a behaviour is for—then teach the skills and adjust the environment so students can participate safely and successfully.
Who this is for
Students showing persistent or escalating behaviours that disrupt learning; teachers and leaders seeking a consistent, evidence-informed response; schools wanting clear, practical plans that align with existing wellbeing and behaviour policies.
What we deliver
- Behavioural Assessment: Classroom and/or playground observations, brief interviews, and analysis of existing data (ABC logs, referrals, attendance/work samples). Behaviour is triaged as Tier 1, Tier 2 or Tier 3 to guide next steps.
- Functional Hypothesis: A plain-language summary of likely triggers, lagging skills and function (e.g., escape/avoid, attention, sensory, or access to tangibles).
- Behaviour Response Plan (BRP): A targeted, sequential, time-framed plan with clear success indicators. Includes environmental adjustments, explicit skill teaching, positive reinforcement, de-escalation scripts, regulation strategies, and restorative follow-up steps.
- Staff Coaching & Modelling: Practical, in-class support for implementing the plan with consistency and confidence.
- Family Engagement: Simple templates and key messages to partner with parents/carers and keep communication constructive.
How it works
- Intake & Consent: Clarify goals, roles and timelines; confirm privacy and communication protocols.
- Data Capture: Gather available information and, where helpful, set up short ABC/data logs.
- Observation & Interviews: Observe in natural settings; speak with key staff (and the student, where appropriate).
- Co-design the BRP: Translate findings into a practical plan aligned to school policy and context.
- Implement with Coaching: Model strategies, refine routines, and agree on consistency tools.
- Review & Adjust: Track progress against indicators; iterate the plan to sustain gains.
Expected outcomes
- Reduced frequency/intensity of target behaviours; increased on-task time and readiness to learn.
- Clear, consistent adult responses across settings and staff.
- Improved student–teacher relationships and student self-regulation skills.
- Practical documentation to support IEP/NCCD and wellbeing processes.
- Increased teacher confidence and collective efficacy.
Sample supports inside a BRP
- Environmental tweaks (seating, visual schedules, task chunking, choice, predictable routines).
- Skill instruction (communication, problem-solving, requesting help, transition skills).
- Regulation menu (co-regulation steps, movement/sensory breaks, calm-corner routines).
- Positive reinforcement plan (behaviour-specific praise, token systems, goal contracts).
- De-escalation and recovery scripts; restorative conversation prompts after incidents.
- Check-in/Check-out and simple daily data trackers.
Tools & templates developed
We work with schools to develop appropriate ABC log sheets, goal-tracking charts, regulation menus, visual supports, teacher response scripts, incident reflection sheets, home–school communication cards, and a one-page BRP summary for quick reference.
Measuring success
Baseline vs follow-up metrics (frequency/duration/intensity of behaviours, on-task sampling, minor referral counts) plus brief staff confidence checks. Data informs each review cycle.
No. This is educational support focused on skills and classroom practice. We can liaise with allied health professionals if needed.
Will this work with our trauma-aware and restorative approaches?
Yes—plans integrate trauma-aware strategies and include restorative follow-up to repair relationships.
How is privacy handled?
We obtain appropriate consents, share plans on a need-to-know basis, and can provide de-identified summaries when required.
Does this replace school behaviour policy?
No. We align with (and strengthen) your existing policies, wellbeing frameworks and duty-of-care processes.
